Handheld PC gaming in 2026 — Steam Deck 2 vs Legion Go 2 vs Ally X

Handheld PC gaming got serious this year. Between the Steam Deck OLED refresh (with the new Zen 5 APU), Legion Go 2, and the ROG Ally X, there are real options now.

I've been carrying a Deck for two years but the battery life and screen size are starting to feel dated. The Ally X's OLED is tempting but Windows on a handheld still feels janky.

What's everyone using? Wait for Deck 2 or pull the trigger now?

Been daily-driving an Ally X for 3 months for travel and bed gaming. Windows is janky yeah but once you set up Playnite + Controller Companion it basically just works.

Deck 2 rumors say Zen 5 + RDNA 4 which is a big perf jump. If you can wait, wait. If you want something now the Ally X is the best Windows handheld, Deck OLED is still the best Linux/value option.
