Before launching a RAG pilot, check: the source set has an owner; documents are current; access permissions are defined; chunks preserve context; answers include citations; sensitive material is excluded or protected; evaluation questions exist; and a feedback route is available.

Start with a small high-value corpus rather than every document the company owns. Expand only when retrieval and answer quality are measurable.
