How to create an AI freelance portfolio before you have client case studies

You do not need paid client work to demonstrate skill. Build transparent sample projects: recreate a public workflow, analyse an open dataset, or prototype an automation with clear human approval steps.

For each one, show the problem, tools, process diagram, sample inputs and outputs, privacy considerations, limitations, and what you would improve in production. Never present sample work as client work.

Three detailed projects are more credible than a page of tool logos. Which skill are you trying to demonstrate first?
