This shouldn't surprise anyone who's been probing model outputs systematically. Alignment is a values system, and when teams train/RLHF on a global workforce or partner with regional entities, political biases from the most restrictive market tend to leak into outputs everywhere. The fix isn't 'use another model' — it's the opposite: we need *diversity* of models so different regions can have different alignment profiles instead of one global answer shaped by the lowest common denominator. Also, American models aren't exactly censorship-free either — they encode American cultural norms just as forcefully; we just notice the foreign ones more.
