Strait of Hormuz Disruption – Real Impact on UAE Shipments?

#1
Dear Members,

With ongoing tensions around Strait of Hormuz, we are seeing:

• Vessel delays and rerouting
• Increased feeder dependency
• Rising operational costs
• Uncertainty in transit times

Questions:
1) Are your shipments getting delayed?
2) Any carriers offering stable routing?
3) How are customers reacting to surcharges?
4) Which liners are giving the best prices?

Let’s share real market updates.

Thank you for raising this — we are also closely monitoring the situation.
From our side, we are experiencing moderate delays on certain shipments, mainly due to vessel rerouting and congestion at transshipment hubs. Transit times have become less predictable compared to previous months.
In terms of carriers, there is no fully stable routing at the moment. Most lines are adjusting schedules frequently depending on the risk levels in the region. However, some carriers are still maintaining relatively better consistency, though not without minor delays.
Regarding surcharges, customers are showing resistance, especially on sudden increases. It is becoming challenging to pass on the full cost impact, and in many cases, we are absorbing part of the increase to maintain business continuity.
On pricing, rates are fluctuating across liners. While a few are offering competitive pricing, it often comes with longer transit times or indirect routing. The balance between cost and reliability is currently the key challenge.
We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and adjusting our planning to maintain stock availability.
Appreciate hearing more updates from others as well.
