📖 What it does
You've got a spreadsheet — FAQs, prompt lists, imported content, a knowledge base in Excel — and it needs to live on your forum. csv2threads takes any CSV with subject + message columns and turns every row into a paste-ready thread draft, with a clean index manifest and (if you opt in) a ready-to-run SQL import file built around real MyBB insert patterns with auto-increment ID capture.

Pure Python stdlib: no pip installs, no network, no surprises. Run a dry pass over your CSV, review the drafts, then post or import on your own schedule.

• CSV in (subject, message — optional forum/tags/date columns) → thread drafts out
  
• One paste-ready .txt per row, numbered and slug-named
  
• _index.csv manifest of everything generated
  
• Optional --sql mode: mybb_import.sql with transactions + LAST_INSERT_ID wiring
  
• Slug generator, subject truncation and SQL escaping built in

⚙️ Requirements

• Python 3 (any recent version)
  
• A CSV file with 'subject' and 'message' columns
  
• For --sql: access to your MyBB database + a backup
  

🛠️ Install — step by step

1. Download the zip below (unlocks with your vault access).
   
2. Unzip — you get csv2threads.py + this README.
   
3. Prepare your CSV with columns: subject,message (optional: forum, tags, date).
   
4. Run: python3 csv2threads.py input.csv --out ./out
   
5. Review the files in ./out/drafts/ and paste them as threads, or
   
6. Run with --sql --forum 12 --prefix mybb_ to generate mybb_import.sql — review it, run it on a BACKUP, then ACP → Tools & Maintenance → Recount & Rebuild.
   

🧹 Uninstall
It's a CLI tool — delete the file to uninstall. Imported threads can be deleted normally.
