Handheld PC gaming in 2026 — has the Steam Deck won?

When the Steam Deck launched it felt like a risky bet. Four years later, the market is crowded: Legion Go, ROG Ally X, MSI Claw, Ayaneo, GPD Win, Ayn, even the Switch 2 sitting somewhere adjacent. And yet every sales/usage dataset I see still has the Deck dominating mindshare and active hours.

What's interesting to me:
- Valve's "good enough" hardware + tight OS integration (SteamOS 3.x, per-game profiles, suspend/resume) seems to beat raw Windows specs for most people.
- The Windows handhelds keep chasing "handheld gaming PC" but the 1% who *actually* tweak TDP and fan curves seem to be outnumbered by players who just want things to work.
- Meanwhile, Android handhelds (like the new Retroid/Anbernic chips) are quietly eating the retro/indie niche at $150–$250 price points.
- Switch 2 is a wild card — first-party Nintendo games at 1080p handheld is a different value proposition.

Questions for the thread:
1. Are you primarily on Deck, Windows handheld, Switch, or retro handheld?
2. What's the *one* thing that would make you upgrade right now?
3. Do you think the category stabilizes around 2–3 winners, or keeps fragmenting?

I'm personally still on an OLED Deck and don't feel a pull to switch — but I'm probably exactly the "good enough" user Valve wants.
