What changed

• Supplements the native MyBB duplicate guard; does not claim the core lacks one.
  
• Matches identical replies in a thread even if the subject was changed.
  
• Thread comparisons require the same forum, subject and message.
  
• Normalizes line endings only; preserves case and meaningful internal code whitespace.
  
• Compares up to 50 recent own submissions over three minutes, under a per-member named lock.
  

Requirements
MyBB 1.8.40 tested; PHP 8.1+ intended (runtime tests on 8.4.26); MySQL/MariaDB; modern browser. Custom themes, external authentication, mail and provider integrations require their own staging checks.

Installation and upgrade
Back up first. Upload inc/ and jscripts/ into the MyBB root. Deactivate older Anti-Dupe first. Upload dfantidupe.php; activate 2.0. Test alongside your normal posting integrations. Do not assume it replaces core protections.

Settings
Stateless: no settings or custom tables. Registered members and MySQL/MariaDB are required for these extra checks.

Usage

Code:

Submit a reply, then try the same message again with a changed reply subject. The plugin points to the prior submission and inserts nothing. MyBB may reject exact duplicates earlier through its own longer native guard.

Test evidence
Actual changed-subject duplicate rejected with unchanged post count; exact-message matching, case distinction, edit exemption and second-connection mutex exclusion; lifecycle.
The eight-release wave passed 117 scoped assertions across PHP/MyBB, browser, HTTP and lifecycle checks. Some tests used a combined plugin context; this is not a universal compatibility certificate or an independent security audit.

Limitations / breaking changes
No automatic deletion or merging. Native MyBB duplicate/flood restrictions still apply. Anonymous posting and third-party writers bypassing post validation are not covered. Saved drafts/edits are exempt.

Deactivate / uninstall
Deactivate stops its extra checks. There is no member data table to remove.

🛠️ Install — step by step

1. Download the zip below (unlocks with your vault access).
   
2. Unzip the download — every file you need is inside.
   
3. Upload df_antidupe.php to your forum's inc/plugins/ folder (FTP or cPanel File Manager).
   
4. Admin CP → Configuration → Plugins → find DF Anti-Dupe → Install & Activate.
   
5. Done — see this README/section above for where the feature appears.
   

🧹 Uninstall
Admin CP → Plugins → DF Anti-Dupe → Deactivate, then Uninstall — its tables/settings drop cleanly.
