Before you buy another subscription, run it through this stack. Here's exactly what I run a forum, a marketplace and client work with — total cost: $0.
  • ChatGPT / Claude (free tiers) — drafting, rewrites, brainstorming. Replaces: a copywriting retainer (~$100/mo).
  • Perplexity free — cited research in seconds. Replaces: paid research reports.
  • NotebookLM — dump 20 PDFs in, get briefings + audio overviews. Replaces: summary apps.
  • Canva free — thumbnails, carousels, one-pagers. Replaces: a designer on retainer.
  • Notion free — CRM-lite, ops, content calendar. Replaces: project-management subs.
  • n8n self-hosted (or Make free tier) — automations: leads → sheet → drafted replies. Replaces: Zapier's paid plan.
  • Groq free tier — fast inference for testing YOUR prompts. Replaces: GPU rental.

The 3 stack rules:
  1. One tool per job — overlap is where money leaks.
  2. Sunday 10-minute audit: which tool earned its seat this week? Cut the rest.
  3. Upgrade only when the free tier blocks revenue, never for comfort.

The exact prompt skeletons I run on top of this stack are in the Vault (Pattern Library pack).

Your turn: what's the ONE free tool you'd add — and what did it replace for you? 👇

Small automations like this compound so much over time.
