Verification record: DFV-AUDIT-20261021
Updated 21 October 2026 by Sir-Vigu. This is a scoped package-availability and staging audit, not a blanket security or compatibility certificate.

DF Posting Briefs — Previously staging-checked
The 1.0.0 release was staging-tested in the preceding batch (77 scoped assertions across that five-plugin batch). This pass confirmed the private archive exists and matched its inventory hash; no new universal compatibility/security certification is implied. Existing release screenshots and detailed boundaries remain below.

What it is
Configure per-forum thread outlines in the ACP, let authors insert them into the composer, and optionally require completed sections through MyBB’s thread data handler.

What it does / Features
  • A separate outline for each configured forum ID.
  • Configurable title, ordered section names, optional required sections and minimum content length.
  • Insert brief appends to an existing draft instead of replacing it.
  • Works with MyBB’s standard SCEditor API or a plain message textarea.
  • Server-side new-thread validation checks section headings and substantive content, not merely a client checkbox.
  • Does not rewrite stored posts or block edits to older posts. Invalid configuration fails open rather than blocking all posting.

What is inside the download
Code:
inc/plugins/dfpostingbriefs.php jscripts/dfpostingbriefs/main.js jscripts/dfpostingbriefs/style.css README.md CHANGELOG.md SECURITY.md TESTING.md LICENSE.txt release.json

Requirements
MyBB 1.8.40 is the tested target. PHP 8.1+ intended; runtime tests used PHP 8.4.26 and MariaDB 11.8.6. Use staging first on older MyBB releases or custom themes/editors. No API key or CDN dependency.

Install — step by step
1. Back up your forum files and database. Test on staging first.
2. Extract the ZIP. Upload the inc/ and jscripts/ directories to your MyBB root, preserving those paths. Do not upload to the ACP directory.
3. Admin CP → Configuration → Plugins → DF Posting Briefs → Install & Activate.
4. Admin CP → Configuration → Settings → DF Posting Briefs; review the settings below.
5. Try the example on a test thread before announcing it to members.

Settings
Enable DF Posting Briefs: on/off. Per-forum briefs (JSON): defaults to {} (no configured forums). Each entry uses title, sections, required and min_chars. Maximum 12 distinct section labels, each at most 100 characters. Brackets/angle brackets/newlines are not accepted in labels. min_chars is clamped to 1–100.

How to use
Code:
ACP setting: Per-forum briefs (JSON) {"2":{"title":"Support brief","sections":["Environment","Steps to reproduce","Expected result"],"required":true,"min_chars":10}} Replace 2 with your actual forum ID. Open a new-thread form in that forum and press Insert brief into post.

Testing — evidence and boundaries
Real new-thread composer; existing draft preservation; one-time insertion; missing/completed section validation; full MyBB PostDataHandler hook; legacy edit exemption; malformed JSON fails open; lifecycle.

Tested in an isolated stock MyBB 1.8.40 forum with PHP 8.4.26, MariaDB 11.8.6 and Chromium. The batch passed 25 PHP/MyBB integration assertions, 26 browser assertions and 26 lifecycle assertions. These are scoped tests, not a third-party security audit. Older MyBB releases, other SQL engines, Safari/Firefox and third-party themes/editors are not certified by this test run. These five plugins are distribution releases and are NOT enabled on the production Data-Forums forum.

Known limitations / privacy
Validation checks the literal Section name headings in the configured order; it cannot judge factual accuracy or automatically recognize differently worded headings. Required briefs apply to new threads, not replies or edits. Third-party editors must expose SCEditor’s API or a usable #message textarea. Verify those editors before rollout. Preserve the labels when filling in the outline.

Deactivate / uninstall
Admin CP → Plugins → Deactivate stops the plugin on subsequent requests and keeps its configuration/data. Uninstall removes this plugin’s settings. Existing posts and member content are not deleted.
