Before uploading a spreadsheet, client note, source-code file, or internal document to an AI product, pause. Ask: Is the information public, internal, confidential, or regulated? Does the vendor train on submitted data? Who can access workspace history? Can information be deleted and audited? What happens if a link or integration is shared accidentally?

Use redacted samples where possible. Remove names, account numbers, credentials, customer identifiers, and proprietary details before experimenting. A short data-classification rule and an approved-tools list are practical first steps.

How does your team decide which AI tools are safe enough for real work?
