Guide 🎮 The no-BS budget gaming setup guide (2026): where to spend, where to save

Every "budget setup" video recommends things the creator got for free. This is the opposite: a ruthless priority list for real money, so your rig is fast where it matters and cheap where it doesn't.

🥇 The golden rule
Spend on what you see, touch and feel every second: the screen, the controls, the chair. Save on everything that just glows.

🖥️ Priority 1 → the monitor comes FIRST
The single biggest upgrade to how games feel. A ₹10–14k 1080p 144Hz+ IPS panel will change your life more than an extra ₹10k on the graphics card. A great GPU on a 60Hz screen is a Ferrari in traffic.

• Sweet spot: 24" 1080p 144–165Hz IPS — best frame-per-rupee on the market
  
• Skip: 4K on a budget, curved ultrawide "deals", anything 60Hz
  

💪 Priority 2 → GPU & the used market

• New: the ₹20–30k GPU tier runs everything at 1080p high. That's the whole story for most people.
  
• Used: last-gen mid-range cards are where the value hides. Test checklist: stress test 15 min, check temps under 85°C, check warranty/serial, meet in person, cash on test. No test, no deal.
  
• 16GB RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD are non-negotiable — stutter and load times are joy-killers.
  

🎧 Priority 3 → what your hands and ears touch

• Mouse: a good lightweight gaming mouse (₹1.5–3k) outlasts three cheap ones. Shape and weight matter more than DPI specs — nobody needs 26,000 DPI.
  
• Headset: any comfortable stereo pair + a decent mic beats a "7.1 surround pro gaming" blob. Positional audio wins games; marketing doesn't.
  
• Keyboard: literally fine at any budget. Mechanical is a luxury, not an upgrade path.
  

🪑 Priority 4 → the unglamorous stuff that saves you

• Chair + desk height: your back is the most overclocked component you own. A proper chair beats "gamer chair" branding — look for adjustable armrests and lumbar support, ignore racing stripes.
  
• Internet: wired > WiFi, always, if you care about ping. 50 Mbps stable fiber beats 300 Mbps flaky anything. Ping and packet loss decide fights, not bandwidth.
  

🗑️ Where NOT to spend (the trap list)

• RGB everything — buy performance, add a ₹300 LED strip later if you must
  
• "Gaming" chairs, "gaming" desks, "gaming" cable sleeves — the word adds 40%
  
• Oversized PSUs, 360mm liquid cooling for a mid-range CPU, 128GB RAM for esports titles
  
• Extended warranties on peripherals — mice and keyboards are cheaper to replace than to insure
  

🧮 Three honest tiers (India, 2026)

• Starter (~₹45k): used GPU + entry CPU + 144Hz monitor used. Plays every esports title at 144fps. Zero excuses.
  
• Sweet spot (~₹75k): new mid-range GPU, 16GB/1TB, new 165Hz screen. The "stop thinking about upgrades" build.
  
• Stretch (~₹1.2L): 1440p-capable GPU + 1440p 170Hz. Diminishing returns kick in hard after this.
  
• Console route: a PS5/Xbox totals ~₹50k with a TV you already own. If you play story games with friends on the sofa, this is not "lesser" — it's just cheaper and simpler.

1. Do I touch/see/hear it every second I play?
   
2. Will I feel this upgrade in my actual games, at my actual settings?
   
3. Did I check the used market first?
